The weekend is in celebration of the start of Season Four in both games, which launched yesterday, June 17. Both Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War and Call of Duty: Warzone are having double XP and double weapon XP weekends from now until 10am PT on June 21, partly in celebration of Father’s Day in many regions, but also to kick off the first weekend of Season Four. Just remember to use them during the Black Ops Cold War seasons so they don’t suddenly become locked behind a game you don’t own when the next game in the series arrives.Treyarch and Raven Software need little reason to have bonus XP weekends at this point, but that doesn’t seem to stop them. Instead, Treyarch has introduced its own 2XP tokens which are available to be earned (or bought) in the new Black Ops Cold War/ Warzone season 1 battle pass. Of course, just because the old tokens don’t work anymore doesn’t mean there aren’t tokens at all. Which might have made progress a little quicker to earn than Treyarch and Activision had originally intended. The likely reason behind these being disabled is that the new seasonal update also added new levels for players to gain and new weapons for them to upgrade - which would have been affected by the 2XP tokens. Now their functionality has been limited exclusively to Modern Warfare’s multiplayer mode, a game that some Warzone players might not even own. Call of Duty: Warzone has finally given players a preview of the mode’s new mapĪs one player points out, these XP tokens were actually content that was included in the premium versions of the Warzone and Modern Warfare battle passes, which means that people payed to get them.
